The Forgotten Continent of Consumers: Africa

8/20/2014
Selling to Americans is one thing, but how do product developers learn what the growing African consumer class wants?

To start they must recognize that Africa is 54 different countries and they must spend time in each of their key African markets to understand the localized needs and product differences required to achieve success.

Using real-world examples, U.S. Chamber of Commerce Director of African Affairs Danielle Walker will discuss how some consumer goods companies have found success in African markets, as well as the importance of relationship building, transparency, and the benefits of creating local jobs. Finally, Walker will candidly examine the differences between the U.S. and China models for doing business in Africa and why they matter, at the inaugural Consumer Goods Emerging Markets Forum.
