CGT Announces Business & Technology Award Finalists

The importance of transformational business and technology initiatives cannot be underestimated in the consumer goods industry. That’s why CGT will once again recognize one individual and three consumer goods companies for excellence in IT, supply chain, customer management and midmarket growth strategies. Today, we proudly reveal the 12 finalists for the prestigious 2014 Business & Technology Awards.

Winners will be announced during a special awards ceremony at the 2014 Consumer Goods Business and Technology Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla., October 21-14, 2014.
 
2014 CIO OF THE YEAR FINALISTS
Presented to the the Chief Information Officer that has made the largest demonstrable impact within his/her company through transformational business and technology initiatives.

·         Michael Heim, CIO, Whirlpool Corporation - for his work to create a world-class, collaboration platform to accelerate Whirlpool’s cultural transformation – to focus on where the consumer is headed.

·         Andrea Simone, CIO, NBTY, Inc. - for leading a total business transformation, consisting of multiple process and system initiatives that are improving efficiency, growing revenue and enhancing customer service across NBTY’s brands and businesses.

·         David Stahl, CIO, Hillshire Brands - for results realized from his strategy to focus on four major areas: simplification, modernization, building capabilities for the business, and transforming IT’s operating model
 
DICK CLARK SUPPLY CHAIN AWARD FINALISTS
Presented to a consumer goods firm for excellence in executing improvements in supply or demand planning, warehouse management, transportation management, S&OP processes or supply chain network design.

·         Avon Products Inc. - for developing a supply chain solution,  called “Connect2Avon”, that enables collaborative planning and execution processes between Avon and its suppliers.

·         The Campbell Soup Company - for being a pioneer in adopting a demand-driven approach to better serve customers and improve supply chain efficiency.

·         Kellogg Company - for the successful integration of a large, strategic product/brand acquisition into the company's ERP backbone.
 
CUSTOMER MANAGEMENT AWARD FINALISTS
Presented to a consumer goods firm that is best leveraging a solution to manage customer relationships, trade promotion, marketing and/or consumer insights.

·         Beiersdorf - for implementing a demand signal management application to better track and measure the competitiveness of global brands and gain new analytical viewpoints.

·         Hillshire Brands - for forging a path to realizing innovation and brand growth through advanced trade planning.

·         Procter & Gamble - for building a single system of record for CRM on a global scale with campaign management capability for programs with reporting and analytics.
 
SMB MARKET AWARD FINALISTS
Presented to a small to mid-size consumer goods firm that is best utilizing technology, business and innovation strategies to achieve substantial growth in size and/or revenue.

·         Lifetime Brands, Inc. - for using technology at the core of the forecasting and planning process, leading to the implementation of a number of novel projects.

·         New Belgium Brewing - for leveraging technology to streamline the supply chain and ensure that real-time, accurate pricing and trade spend measures are in place at all times.

·         Suja Juice - for implementing a mobile solution that enables merchandising to gather valuable real-time data in retail stores about out-of-stocks, shelf space and competitor activity.

The awards process started in January, when nominations were collected from the greater CGT community, including consumer goods executives, industry analysts, consultants and technology providers. These nominations were then narrowed down to a group of three finalists per award by CGT's editorial staff based on multiple award criteria, like project scope and results since launch. CGT's Editorial and Research Advisory Boards will elect one “winner” in each of the four categories.
