Blurring Borders

Having a brother in the U.S. Marine Corps, I think it’s safe to say his children (ages 11 and under) are way more cultured than me. Being that I’ve mainly only traveled up and down the East Coast of the United States, I’m probably the last person to offer content on globalization. That said, sometimes the best way to learn is by rolling up your sleeves and diving into the trenches of your work. That’s what I had the pleasure of doing this month — and that’s exactly what VF Corporation has done on the cover story, both literally and figuratively. Regarding a project called Acadia, Chris Hobson of VF gives his first-hand account of streamlining the company’s legacy technology systems into one platform for all its brands and across borders. Also crossing borders into new territories, Talking Rain Beverage Company takes its products into different regions based on feedback from social media and in communications with consumers, whereas Barry Callebaut focuses on obtaining a traceable supply chain for its global success.
