MIT Media Lab's David Rose to Keynote CGT's 2014 Consumer Goods Business & Technology Leadership Conference

9/30/2014
MIT Media Lab Instructor and Author David Rose will deliver the keynote address at Consumer Goods Technology’s (CGT) 2014 Consumer Goods Business & Technology Leadership Conference, October 21-24, 2014, at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort in Orlando, Fla.

Rose is a renowned expert on The Internet of Things — the concept where everyday items become “enchanted objects” that are able to anticipate our needs, talk with each other and make life simpler. He is an instructor and researcher at the MIT Media Lab, and the author of the preeminent book, Enchanted Objects: Design, Human Desire, and the Internet of Things.

“In the scrum of talking heads wrestling to gain control of the narrative behind the Internet of Things, Rose is an engaging, plain-spoken guide,” wrote The New York Times of the of the serial entrepreneur, who is the CEO at Ditto Labs and founded Vitality, a company that reinvented medication packaging, and Ambient Devices, which embedded Internet information in objects such as lamps, mirrors and umbrellas.

Rose's opening keynote presentation, titled “The New Vanguard for Business: Connectivity, Design and The Internet of Things”, will focus on how to get in on the ground floor of The Internet of Things, as he describes how products are poised to become services, and how we will be creating new user experiences, not new technology.

"We are very excited to have David Rose serve as our opening keynote speaker," said CGT Publisher Albert Guffanti. "We are truly at the frontier of a new, hyper-connected future, and MIT Media Lab’s David Rose is our guide."

The 16th annual Consumer Goods Business & Technology Leadership Conference, produced by CGT, provides senior-level consumer goods executives with a thought-leadership forum to network with peers, share ideas and experiences, and learn about important industry trends under this year's event theme, "The Connected Company: Making Strategic Initiatives Work Across the Enterprise."
